A sneak peek.....my first group session

It is not easy getting 11 people to cooperate for a photograph. This family did it with ease! They were fun and so relaxed. It was a pleasure to work with them. I got some great shots that they will be able to choose from for a Christmas gift. The rest of the session will be posted to my website http://www.amomentlikethis.smugmug.com/

A beautiful new location

I have been in a photography slump for awhile and haven't kept my blog up to date. Today I went out for a practice shoot and came home with some shots I was finally happy with. Hope you enjoy! My goal is to keep this site current with any photo sessions I have, so keep checking back for updates. Also check out my new site http://www.amomentlikethis.smugmug.com/

Thank you for looking.

My first portfolio building session

A big Thank You to my first client who is also a dear friend. I so appreciate the opportunity to capture your "Awaiting" moment. My wish is that I've been able to show the beauty of the pregnant body and that these photographs will be reminders of how truly amazing life is.

Bathtub fun

My plan is to convert all these bathtub shots to black and white and then put them up in the kids' bathroom in some nice white picture frames. There are some hot spots in some of the black and whites that are a bit distracting but for someone really JSO (just starting out), it may be Mommy Goggles but I love them!

Eyelashes

I need more photoshop practice, I was playing with different black and white actions.

A boy and his toy

Playing with black and white conversions.

Just for Fun

I like these pictures but like the title says they are just for fun because I know they are far from perfect. A little underexposed and not as much light in their eyes as I would like but that is what practice is for. I hope continued growth and improvement is visible in future posts. I'm sure these could be "fixed" in Photoshop but I didn't have the time to play tonight and wanted to get these up here since it's been so long since my last entry.
I'll blow you a kiss.....

A nice capture but I still need to practice DOF (depth of field) as eye closest to camera is OOF (out of focus)

Reflections of a Lite Brite

Today's challenge "Around the House" - Architectural designs, cool angles or interesting perspective. The kids were playing with the Lite Brite and forgot to turn it off. I was walking around the house with my thinking cap on, camera ready and this is what caught my eye. Not sure if this qualifies in the challenge but I thought it was interesting!

A couple of cuties

I took the kids out sledding yesterday. I took a ton of pictures, here are a few of the ones I like.

Sunset

The sky was so breathtaking last night, I had to snap a few pictures so I could remember that when it is winter and 10 degrees, Wisconsin is still a great place to live!

Life's sweetest moments

A sweet moment frozen in a photograph. It's the little things that keep me loving what I do. Hug your little ones and your big ones too. Take a picture to remember that sweet moment forever!

Today's Challenge

The photography forum that I play around in has a photo challenge everday. Today's challenge was "Something in the Bathroom" and this is what I came up with. I was going for my relection in the droplet of water, it didn't really turn out that way. If you enlarge this pic you can see me, I'm just not in focus. I'm inspired to continue practicing this technique and would love any tips on how to do this!

Happy Valentine's Day

This is just a snapshot (not technically correct) of the finished Valentine's Day cards that the kids passed out at school today. Unfortunately I didn't get these finished in time to get them out in the mail. But keep watching your mailboxes as they are on their way. We've gotten a ton of compliments on them so far. Now that I've done them once, and learned a thing or two, next year should be a breeze!
Love to you all!

It's official......I look like I know what I'm doing!

I had the privilege of attending a photography get together about a week ago. It was fun, full of tips and tricks, and allowed for us to practice taking pics of each other. I would like to thank Brenda Eckhardt for taking mine, finally a photo of me I actually like! We are planning another get together this spring and including our kids. I know there will be lots of great photos taken that I will post, so check back often.
